USB Bootloader Software Integration for STM32

Client

Our client is a well-established technology company operating in the hardware and screen printing sectors, utilizing the STM32 architecture in its own industrial devices.

Challenge

Enabling the ability to update software via USB memory on STM32 microcontrollers (MCUs) actively used in devices. Additionally, ensuring that the software update code to be developed can be easily ported to other STM32 family processors.

Solution

The USB memory read operation was performed by examining the MCU's memory map. The current file read from the flash memory was written directly to the MCU memory, and all codes were converted into a readable, usable library in an SDK format.

Result

Hardware Compatibility: Easy adaptation is provided for STM32 devices with USB capability and sufficient RAM.

Field Operations: It is now possible to distribute the new software to products in the field easily and securely.

Project Delivery: At the end of the anticipated 6-week project duration, the library, usage documentation, and flowchart were delivered in full.
